Rainy Morning in Kardamyli

The drive from Mystras to Kalamata was over dramatic mountain roads. We didn't take the faster road from Sparti. Lots of switchbacks and some heavy rain.
Woke up this morning to thunder and occasional heavy rain here in Kardamyli. We are hoping this doesn't contine because there is a beautiful beach for us to visit.
The town has been the home of Sir Patrick 'Paddy' Michael Leigh Fermor.  We aren't sure whether he still lives here, but a British couple has told us approximately where his home is.  We will check it out but certainly won't bother anyone we see there.

David and Will on Bourdzi Island, Nauplio

About the only way to get them together in a photo is to be quick about it. This island fortress was built by the Venetians in the 14C as part of the defenses of Nauplio. The Palamidi Fortress on top of the mountain is another part.

Tour of Mycenae

September 11, 2009
We visited Mycenae (Mikines) this afternoon. Don't let the picture fool you. It was crowded with tourists, even though there was occasional rain.

Crunch!

We started learning about Greek insurance coverage today. It took longer than to verify that my credit card gave us automatic CDW and that in Greece, the rental company was responsible for covering the other car, if they determine that I was at fault.
No one was injured in either car, but Will wondered how he could tell if he had internal injuries.  Luckily, he didn't.

DELPHI

Who knew that Delphi was up in the mountains? We even passed ski and snowboard parks on the way - closed at this time of the year. The ruins are on the side of a mountain, so the tour involves lots of hiking up and down. Great the the legs and great for a good night's rest afterwards.
